So………..I went to the local movie theater a couple of times this weekend (I actually drove 25 minutes past the local theater to get to the luxury theater with the lounger seats). I went to see “Fifty Shades Darker” and “John Wick 2,” both of which were fairly decent movies, but they have nothing to do with this post.
I stood abruptly after the ending credits began for John Wick, to relieve the urinary urge I had been putting off to see the movie to its end, and I happened to look back over the crowd of moviegoers and I was horrified! I had once seen a meme that depicted people lying in bed at a movie theater. It looked like everyone there was in a Craftmatic twin bed, which in a sense, the recliners are very similar. Laying there feeding themselves heavily buttered popcorn and washing it down with the high fructose carbonated solutions!!!! I can’t criticize because I sat there and ate my red velvet cheesecake, and later reclined (as if time of reclination mattered). All we needed was snuggies to complete this impromptu pajama party!! I say that to say this……
Convenience may be killing us slowly!!
We have voice activated devices that control everything in our living rooms now! A while back, I had a rental while my vehicle was being repaired and it wasn’t equipped with the back up camera I had become accustomed to. After one attempt to park I wanted to just get out while the motor was still running and walk off! I can’t go anywhere without my cell phone or Bluetooth…….. In all seriousness, I’m afraid of the convenient enablers that the future has in store for our sedentary lifestyles!!!
